Ingredients You'll Need To Make This Recipe
For the French toast:
- 6 hot cross buns, halved
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 cup heavy cream (instead of milk)
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Butter (for cooking)
For the bacon:
- 10 slices streaky bacon
For the maple caramelised bananas:
- 3 bananas, sliced lengthways or into rounds
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
For the topping:
- 1 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries or raspberries)
- Extra maple syrup for drizzling
Instructions For Making Your Easter Breakfast
Step 1: Make The French Toast
- Preheat your camp cooking stove or BBQ to medium heat.
- Grab a bowl from your camp tableware and use a camp cooking utensil like a whisk to mix the eggs, heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
- Dip each hot cross bun half into the mixture, letting it soak for a few seconds.
- Melt butter on the camping cookware griddle and place the buns cut side down.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Once done, move to a plate and cover lightly to keep warm.

Step 2: Cook The Bacon
- Lay bacon slices on the hot plate and cook until crispy, flipping occasionally.
- Once done, move to the side of the hot plate, turn heat off to heat warm.
Step 3: Caramelise The Bananas
- Add butter to the griddle and add the banana slices and cook for 2-3 mins then flip.
- Drizzle maple syrup over the bananas.
- Cook until the maple syrup caramelises and becomes golden.

Step 4: Assemble & Serve
- Place the French-toasted hot cross buns on plates from your camp tableware set.
- Layer with crispy bacon and spoon over the maple caramelised bananas.
- Scatter fresh berries on top.
- Drizzle with extra maple syrup and serve warm.
