Men's Bike FAQs

How To Repair And Maintain Your Bike

Having the right bike maintenance tools allows for precise adjustments, prevents wear and tear and helps with everything from brake tuning to chain repairs. Regular maintenance includes inspecting key components like wheels, brakes, handlebars, seat, chain and pedals to ensure everything is secure and working properly.

Keeping your bike clean and in good condition can help prevent bigger issues down the track. Checking tyre pressure, removing debris from the tread and following manufacturer recommendations for inflation will help prevent flats. Proper chain care, including cleaning, lubricating and fixing any stiff or damaged links ensures smooth shifting and reduces wear on other drivetrain parts.

How To Change Your Tyres

Changing a bike tyre doesn't require an extensive toolkit, but you'll need a few essential items to get the job done. Gather a bike tyre lever, bike pump, a wrench (if your bike lacks a release lever), a new tyre of the correct size, and a new bike tube if necessary or a puncture repair kit. Start by turning your bike on its side, ensuring the chain faces upward. For rear tyre removal, shift to the smallest gear, then open the release lever or loosen the wheel nuts with a wrench. Once the tyre is free, you can lift it off the frame.

If you're changing the bike tube, first deflate the removed tyre completely. Use a tyre lever to pry the tyre from the rim, working around the circumference to loosen it. Once the tube is out, prepare the new one by inflating it slightly before installation to prevent pinching. Fit the new tube into the tyre, ensuring it's free from kinks, and then reinstall the tyre onto the wheel. Start by placing the valve back in and align the rim with the tyre while ensuring the tread is facing the right direction.
