DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT KAYAK?

Your choice of kayak depends entirely on where you will be paddling the most, and what kind of kayaking you intend to do. We understand that there are a number of variables in choosing the perfect kayak for you. Our Kayaks have been tried and tested, and are in line with Australian and New Zealand safety standards.

We would also like to remind you to stay aware of any changes in the weather or water conditions when sailing and always be safe. In fair weather and still waters, any of our recreational kayaks will be more than suitable. Keep your eyes open for any whitecaps though! Coasts can be a little bit more challenging, and you need to be more aware of the impact of waves, tides and currents. In warmer weather, a sit on top kayak can be the perfect boat, particularly, if you don't mind a dip in the ocean. However, on those colder days or when the waters are choppier, a sit-in boat may be better suited.

When in moving water, it is recommended that you have a kayak that has a rudder or a skeg. There are no absolutes in kayaking, but some experts do recommend a sit-on-top model for fast moving water due to better mobility. Beginners may prefer a sit on top kayak, feeling assured by the increased safety and ease of paddling.

DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR CLEANING MY KAYAK?

Well, that does depend on which of our kayaks you have chosen, and we always recommend reading the manufacturer's care instructions carefully. Usually, a quick rinse with cold fresh water is all that is necessary to clean your kayak. This is particularly important if you have been out in salt water, as the residue from the ocean can have an adverse effect. Carry your kayak carefully, and avoid dragging it across the ground. This can cause scratches and affect the overall performance and look of your kayak.
